VIN Inspections

The Gray County Sheriff’s Office provides Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) inspections as a convenience for our citizens. All vehicles purchased with an out of state title must have a VIN inspection completed on the vehicle before registration can be made in the State of Kansas. To use this service, please set up an appointment and bring the following items with you to the Gray County Sheriff’s Office for the VIN inspection:

  • Vehicle needing inspection
  • Title for the vehicle
  • Valid driver’s license
  • $20.00

If a VIN inspection is required for non-branded salvage, rebuilt or off-road vehicles, you will need to contact the Kansas Highway Patrol in Garden City, Kansas, at (620) 276-3201 to set up an appointment.

Please note that the Sheriff’s Office does not accept personal checks.
All payments must be made with certified funds, cash, debit or credit card.
